Reviews for a Cause
Hello! Since this is my first post for this blog, I'd like to dedicate my writing to my parents, Joram and Juanita.
Around the first week of February 2018, my TNCT (Trends Network and Critical Thinking in the 21st Century) teacher, Sir Roel Robles, instructed us to create a review of the products we would buy during the second or third week of February from the local community bazaar. His intention was to help those in need, and my conscience understood that; on the other hand, my wallet didn’t seem too pleased with the idea. I, being a graduating SHS (Senior High School) student who wants to pass, unhesitatingly complied.
During February 15, 2018, I had bought three items: 1) juice, 2) rings, and a 3) peanut butter palaman. They were all locally produced, perhaps made by indigenous people, or just independent sellers.
To begin with, I’ll start my review on the juice. I bought an organic sugarcane juice from Deli Cane for only PHP50. Now, I bought this because at the time, I was just desperate to quench my thirst; though I won’t deny, it was surprisingly better than I expected it to be. You could already tell that it’s fresh, and it was also stated in their branding that it had no preservatives, so you had to drink it as quickly as you can. Besides the fact that it tasted delightful, it also had its benefits! It not only nourishes your liver, but your lungs and stomach as well. It also has the power to serve as your source of energy because it has a lot of electrolytes. Furthermore, as stated by the banner I saw in Deli Cane’s booth, it said “…restoring vital strength and preventing dehydration.” And I couldn’t agree more. Another thing is that, “…diabetic can enjoy it too.” Was a sigh of relief for people like me who are genetically-prone to have diabetes. For others who wish to avoid breast and prostate problems, it is said that this drink has alkaline to prevent illnesses as those and will greatly benefit those in pursuit of becoming healthier. To put the icing on top, this drink also has the capability of strengthening one’s liver, lungs, stomach, kidneys, heart, eyes, brain, and sex organs. It doesn’t even need advertisement! You have to try it for yourself to appreciate the benefits and taste of this juice. You can contact Deli Cane by calling their telephone numbers: (02) 242 5991 / (02) 415 5452 or you can reach them at 0917 871 7128 / 0999 999 7128.
Secondly, I bought rings from a store just around the Quattromondial Monument for a small amount of PHP50. I tried looking for their brand name, but no banner appeared on sight. However, I do remember them selling accessories and other products connected to the tribal designs of indigenous people. I was interested with the concept itself, but I was particularly fascinated by the rings. It caught my attention because it was minimalistic, but also in style. In my head, I could just picture how nicely it will compliment my outfits on a specific day that I decide to look unique, different from the mainstream fashion of what’s appealing to today’s generation. In line with that, buying the ring would give you a sense of contentment. The mere fact that you bought a ring created by those below the highest class of production makes you feel like, at the very least, you have helped the lower class climb smaller steps to the top. Basically, buying their products does not only lighten your conscience, but also makes you feel fashionably unique. Feel free to stand out wearing those rings all over your hands, be yourself!
Lastly, I bought a peanut butter palaman from a livelihood project (whose name I’m not completely aware of) for only PHP100! Out of all the products I bought, I noticed that this gave me more than what I paid for. I have a lot to say about this product, it’s something I’d honestly go back to if I had the chance. Starting with its size, it’s honestly big enough to provide me breakfast for maybe 2-3 more weeks. Secondly, the flavour, in my personal opinion, fits my standard of how a peanut butter palaman should taste like. I liked the fact that it was creamy and smooth, and I could put it on absolutely anything I had in hand (except anything related with cheese). I ate this for a while with a sandwich and bananas, and it gets better and better the more you eat it (I’d say, an acquired taste). Lastly, for a livelihood project, it was something worth comparing to the bigger companies. I’d say that even if I’m a fussy eater, I’d definitely choose this peanut butter brand over others. It was good enough for me to recommend to those outside of this BlogSpot platform. If I were to rate this product, I’d give it an 8/10. 😼 To buy your own peanut butter palaman, you can contact them at 0906 1421 300 / 0933 3924 691.
All of these products were well-crafted and of course, made with love. I have done my review with sincerity to promote truth to others and genuine help to the less fortunate. I bought these products not only because it was a requirement, but with the intention of helping those not-so-well-known producers because I had felt empathetic to their situation. I’m not comparing myself to them, but I feel sorry for them because I endured selling products myself-- I understand the feeling of not getting enough customers, not getting enough profit, and simply not living up the standards of society to become a mainstream brand. It’s all in the hard work they put that simply brings me into tears; the sweat and blood they lost to create these products to be consumed and loved back by the customers who buy it. It’s quite disappointing that not a lot knows about these sellers, but I’m positive that one day, they’ll make their mark in the business world.
The review is made quite well. The author's first product was coincidently my first product. Which I'm glad to see we both agree that it's really worth buying or trying. The rings look gorgeous and I would also consider buying them to add more flare to my style. As a foodie the mere picture of the peanut butter was enough to encourage me to buy it.
